IF MILLBROOK CENTRAL SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED, NO BUSES WILL RUN TO OUT-OF-DISTRICT SCHOOLS, EVEN IF THOSE SCHOOLS ARE OPEN.

DELAYED OPENINGS

If the decision is made to have a delayed opening, this will also be announced on the same radio and television stations at approximately 6:00 A.M. All bus pick-ups will be made approximately two (2) hours later than usual. Classes at Millbrook High School will begin at 9:35 A.M. and at Elm Drive and Alden Place Elementary schools at 11:00 A.M. Everything will proceed as usual, except two hours later. Morning BOCES Oc-Ed students will NOT be transported to BOCES, but will remain in the High School.

Lunches will be served in each building at the regular time. Dismissal from school will be at the regular time.

In the event that road conditions do not improve and the decision is made to close school for the day, the radio stations will begin making this announcement at 8:00 A.M.

EARLY DISMISSAL

If conditions, such as weather, necessitate an early dismissal, the following procedures will be followed:

  • Radio and television stations will be notified.
  • Children at private schools will be brought back to the District.
  • In most instances, High School students will be sent home first so that older students will be home when younger brothers/sisters arrive.
  • Elementary students will be sent home.
  • If the early dismissal takes place near lunch time, we will try to give the students lunch before they are dismissed.

Every parent is asked to discuss with their children, particularly elementary students, alternate homes or plans in the event the child must be sent home and a responsible person is not present. This should be done in September and repeated as often as the parent thinks necessary.
