Financial Aid and Scholarship Information

TYPES OF FINANCIAL AID

There are many differents ways to pay for college. Government loans, Grants and Work-Study as well as Scholarships from the university and private sources can all add up to help pay for college expenses. Many sources can assist with tuition, room & board, meals and supplies. Don't eliminate a private college due to cost since they may have funding that could bring the cost close, and at times under state tuition costs.

In order to qualify for aid you must complete the FAFSA Form online in January of your senior year. The sooner you apply, the better chance of receiving funds!

SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship applications for seniors are now available in the guidance office! The Guidance Office announces Scholarships as we receive them from outside sources. The applications are available in the main office. Students must apply and in many cases write an essay to be considered.

Suggestions:

  • Apply for scholarships only if you are eligible.  Read all of the requirements and directions.
  • Search websites.  Do not use sites that ask for payment.  The Guidance Office has a list of reputable sites.
  • Follow directions.  Provide everything that is required, but do not add materials as you may be disqualified.
  • Neatness counts!  Type your application if possible.  If you can't, print neatly and carefully.
  • Make sure your essay makes an impression.  The key to writing a strong essay is to be personal and specific.
  • Pay attention to deadlines!!
  • Make copies of all the materials you send.  Have your counselor, parent, or english teacher proofread your materials & essay.
  • Ask for help by calling the organization with any questions.
  • ALWAYS SEND A THANK YOU NOTE FOR ANY SCHOLARSHIPS YOU ARE AWARDED. NOT DOING SO JEOPARDIZES FUTURE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR OUR STUDENTS.

 Local Scholarship Applications

Scholarship applications for all scholarships sponsored by local organizations will be distributed to seniors in twelfth grade English classes. These are the scholarships announced during the graduation ceremonies. If you are a current senior or know a current senior who still needs the application, please stop by the guidance office. The deadline to apply for any of these scholarships is in early June. No exceptions will be made. For further information, please contact the guidance office.
