High School Requirements

What do I need to graduate?

We encourage students to take advantage of challenging courses throughout their high school career. We offer Regents level, Honors, and Advanced Placement courses in all of the academic areas. We also advise getting involved in clubs, sports, community and volunteer activities. Enjoy the experience of High School and challenge yourself to do your personal best!

The following are High School Graduation requirements:

Credits

English 4 credits

Social Studies 4 credits

Math 3 credits (4 recommended)

Science 3 credits (4 recommended)

Second Language 1 credit (3 recommended)

Art/Music 1 credit

Health .5 credit (full year, every other day)

Physical Education 2 credits (each year = .5 credit)

Electives 1.5 to 3.5

 

Total credits = 22

 

Regents Exam Requirements:

Regents Diploma- Score of 65 on English, Laboratory Science, Global History, US History & Math New York State Regents Examinations.

Advanced Regents Diploma- Score of 65 in all of the above Math (3), Laboratory Science and Second Language exam.

Local Diploma- Option for students with disabilities, pass five Regents exams with a score of 55, or pass Regents Competency Exams.

Individual Education Plan Diploma- Granted to students with a disablity if the above requirements are deemed inappropriate.
