Scholastic Art Awards

The Scholastic Art Awards is a visual arts competition open to students in grades 7-12 and is designed to identify students with exceptional artistic talent. Scholastic is a National program that gives out National Awards and Scholarships, as well as Regional Awards. The Gold and Silver Key winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony at SUNY New Paltz Friday February 2, 2018 at 7pm. Their work will be on display in the Fine Art Building rotunda from February 3-22, 2018. Award Winners:

Gold Key Winner: Abigail DeMan. 
Silver Key Winners: Vanessa Amilcar, Elisa Butterick, Sophia Gareri, Alexandra Mauro, Callie McGuire & Brianna Morano.
Honorable Mentions:

Sixth Grade Elementary All-County Band Students

The following Sixth Grade students auditioned with other Dutchess County students and were selected to represent Millbrook at the 2018 Elementary All-County Festival: Griffin Bialy-Trombone, Emily Corbin-Clarinet, Atticus Eglinski-Trombone, Serafina Fauci-Alto Saxophone, Kate Gehlhoff-Trumpet, Julia Hall-Clarinet, Molly Murphy-Oboe, Steven Paloma-Percussion & Colin Pfeifer-Tenor Saxophone. Congratulations to our Elementary All-County Band students!

Third & Fifth Grade Connection

The fifth grade classes hosted a Realistic Fiction Reading for the third grade students. The third graders are just beginning to write their own realistic fiction stories and have been studying "theme" in reading. As a culminating celebration, the fifth graders shared their stories and discussed what theme was illustrated in their writing to help spark the imaginations and ideas for the third graders!

Congratulations to Hali Wack Selected to NYS All-State Mixed Chorus!

The Millbrook Music Department is pleased to announce that MHS Junior Hali Wack was selected to the New York State All-State Mixed Chorus. She participated in four days of intense rehearsals and a final concert held at the acclaimed Eastman Theatre in Rochester, NY during the annual Winter Conference of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) held from November 30th throughout December 4th, 2017.

Hali was selected for this honor from students across the state after performing an All-State Level VI vocal solo for adjudication last spring, receiving a perfect score of 100. We are very proud of Hali and her accomplishments. Her hard work and dedication is evident in everything she does, and she was an excellent representative of our music department! Congratulations Hali!

NYSSMA, the New York State School Music Association, is the largest state affiliate of the National Association for Music Education.The Mission of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) is to advocate for and improve music education across New York State by promoting and producing appropriate activities and programs for its membership and students in member school music programs.



Millbrook Girls' Volleyball Team Receives Sportsmanship Award & Member Recogntion

The Millbrook Girls' Volleyball received the Section IX Sportsmanship Award for the second year in a row!

Members of the Millbrook Girls' Volleyball Team received special recogntion.  (left to right) Samantha McKenna was named to the 1st Team All-State Volleyball Team, Cecilia Dignan was named to the 1st Team All-State Volleyball Team & Section IX MVP, and Erin Fox was named to the 2nd Team All-State Volleyball Team.

Millbrook Students Selected For All-State Music Festival

The Millbrook Music Department would like to congratulate the following members of the Millbrook Concert Choir and Concert Band for their selection and participation in the Zone 10 Area All-State Festival on Friday and Saturday, November 17th and 18th. These students were among over 400 students chosen for this festival based on their outstanding NYSSMA Solo Scores and musicianship! Congratulations to: Alice Pandaleon, Matthew Guardiola, Skyler Fountain, Brian Regan, Madeline Lacey, Hali Wack,Halie Every, Alice Rosi-Marshall, Benjamin Lacey,and Tessa Fountain!

Loren Carrazone Kelly Inducted into Millbrook Athletic Hall of Fame

The 2017 Millbrook High School Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Dinner & Ceremony was held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Millbrook Golf and Tennis Club. Loren Carrazone Kelly, who is a Speech Pathologist in our District and a 1997 Millbrook High School graduate, was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Loren served as the captain of the Millbrook Softball team her junior and senior years. During her senior year, with her pitching prowess and leadership as team captain, she helped the team to win the league championship title that year. Loren was also a talented Volleyball player. She further demonstrated her leadership skills by serving as her class president during her junior and senior years. Other Millbrook High School teams which were inducted into the Hall of Fame include the following: 1925 Boys’ Basketball team, 1926 Baseball team, 1928 Boys’ Basketball team, 1928 Girls’ Basketball team, 1932 Boys’ Basketball team, 1934 Baseball team, 1935 Baseball team, 1949 Boys’ Basketball team, 1954 Baseball team, and the 1955 Six-Man Football team.

Patriot's Pen Essay Contest Winners

Millbrook Middle School entrants to the Patriot's Pen essay contest, including the winner, Stephanie DeMan! The Patriot’s Pen Writing Contest is for students in grades 6-8 and encourages students to examine America’s history relative to their own experiences in modern American society. Congratulations to Stephanie for a job well done.
