Millbrook Continuing Education Program

We are excited to announce the launch of the Millbrook Continuing Education Program, an initiative designed to serve the lifelong learning interests of our students, families, and wider community. Our goal is to provide a diverse selection of learning opportunities that enrich lives, build new skills, and strengthen our connections with one another. Whether you're looking to explore a new hobby, advance your professional skills, or connect with others through shared interests, our Continuing Education Program aims to offer something for everyone.
 

All are welcome to take our courses. You do not have to be a resident in the Millbrook School District to register. Class ages are designated. Parents/guardians must escort students to and from class, but are not required to stay. Transportation is not provided.

You may register for classes online and pay by credit card using FamilyID. If you do not have a FamilyID account, please follow the prompts to create one. Alternatively, you can register by using the registration form and submitting it with payment by mail or in person to:

Registration Deadlines & Confirmation:

  • Early registration is strongly encouraged to secure your spot and avoid class cancellations due to low enrollment.
  • Register at least one week before the class start date (unless otherwise noted).
  • Confirmation emails will be sent only if a valid email address is provided.
  • If you do not receive a notification about changes, plan to attend your first class as scheduled.

Payment & Receipts:

  • Online payment will be through MuniciPAY
  • Online registrants will receive an automatic confirmation/receipt.
  • Checks are made payable to the MILLBROOK CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
  • If paying by check, your cancelled check serves as your receipt.

Refund Policy:

  • Refunds will only be issued if a class/program is cancelled.
  • **If within 3 days of a scheduled course the minimum required participants have not enrolled, the course will be cancelled and a refund will be issued.

Weather-Related Cancellations:

  • To receive updates for weather or other cancellations, sign up for the Millbrook Central School district app. Go to the App/Google Play Store and search Millbrook Central SD or scan the QR code below.
  • Weather-related cancelled classes will be rescheduled at the end of the course.

Student Eligibility:

  • Individuals under age 18 need to be registered by a parent or guardian.
  • Parents may register elementary and middle school students for designated classes only.
  • Parents are not required to attend (unless specified), but must escort children to and from the class.

Additional Information:

  • Classes will be held at either Millbrook High School or Middle School.
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited on school property.
  • Some activities may involve unique risks. A waiver may be required before participation.

INTRO TO CERAMICS/WHEEL

Ever want to try the art of ceramics? In this course we will explore different hand building techniques as well as throwing on the pottery wheel. Students will be able to create a functional piece of pottery during the course. Materials and kiln firing included, No experience necessary!

STOP THE BLEED 2-HOUR COURSE      

(Non-Certification—COMPLIMENTARY)

Learn and practice three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out: (1) How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound; (2) How to pack a wound to control bleeding; (3) How to correctly apply a tourniquet. These three techniques will empower you to assist in an emergency and potentially save a life. Free of charge (a $20 donation is encouraged for covering the cost of materials and maintenance of the equipment).

This fun class provides an historical overview of Latin and acquaints the learner with vocabulary & the basic mechanics of the language, such as declining a noun and conjugating a verb. Good for classicists, writers, historians, scientists, poets, logicians, theologians, and philosophers.

INTRO TO COLOR GUARD TWIRLING

Learn how to twirl and spin color guard equipment! Techniques will include: drop spins, flourishes, cones, dangles, stirs, thumb flips, and a variety of other beginner techniques. Color guard flag is needed, gloves are suggested.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID

Developed by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, this course equips participants with the skills to recognize the signs and symptoms of a mental health challenge, a worsening condition, or a mental health crisis. It empowers individuals to provide support, whether to a loved one, a neighbor, or even a stranger, while also emphasizing the importance of self-care and connecting with available resources. This is a Professional Certification level course. Two-day workshop (must attend both;  online flexible/pre-work required.)  4 CTLE Credits.                                               **Req. 8 to run.

KIDS COPING AND CASTING

This fishing program for kids was created by The Brain And Body Coalition as a way to use fishing to take care of our mental health and connect with the outdoors. The course focuses on all types of freshwater fishing,  Kids will learn how to use spinning rods, organize their tackle boxes, cast, reel in fish, and other techniques. Rods will be provided, as well as materials to learn fly tying and casting. Or you can bring your own rod, reel,  line, and a tackle box. The program will prepare kids to attend the fishing derby that is held on 9/20/25 at the Fishing Fun at Scenic Hudson’s Creek Fest in Long Dock Park, Beacon.

HISTORY OF PANDEMICS

While all of our lives were recently affected by COVID-19, the world has repeatedly been shaped by pandemics. Beginning with the Black Death and continuing through "the fever" of 1666, Smallpox, Yellow Fever, Influenza, Polio, and HIV, this class looks at the cultural and scientific reactions to pandemics.

BUCKET DRUMMING FOR BEGINNERS

Ready to make some noise? This beginner-friendly class introduces the basics of rhythm using buckets and drumsticks. No drum set or experience required. We’ll cover simple grooves, stick technique, and how to play together as a group. It’s a fun, energetic way to explore music, build coordination, and boost confidence through rhythm.
