Meet the Art Team
Allison Schmid
Allison Schmid has been teaching art in the Millbrook Central School District since 2008. She teaches pre-kindergarten through fifth grade art at Alden Place and Elm Drive schools, as well as eighth grade art at Millbrook Middle School.
Mrs. Schmid grew up in the Town of Poughkeepsie and is a local graduate of the Spackenkill School District. She received both her Bachelors of Science in Art Education and Masters of Art in Art Studio from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Previous to teaching at Millbrook, she taught art in the Rhinebeck, Garrison, and Wappingers School Districts.
Elementary level art is her favorite to teach, and she loves watching her students grow in their skills and appreciation of the visual arts. When she isn’t teaching, you can find Mrs. Schmid listening to Taylor Swift and enjoying time with her husband and family. She has a son named Evan and a daughter named Autumn. As a family, they enjoy visiting local parks, skiing in the winter, and watching Disney movies together..

Jillian Barnes
Mrs. Barnes is a 2009 graduate of SUNY New Paltz where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Art Education with a concentration in Graphic Design and a minor in Art History. In 2014 she earned a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology from New York Institute of Technology. She holds two certifications, one for K-12 Visual Arts and another as an Educational Technology Specialist. In 2023 she was named an Apple Teacher and in 2024 was named an Adobe Creative Educator.
Mrs. Barnes has been at Millbrook since the fall of 2010 and loves being a Blazer! She teaches Art 6, Art 7, Enriched Art 7/8, High School Graphic Design I, II & High School Media Design & Production. She is the Middle School Art Club advisor and the Art Department Shows Director at Millbrook.
In 2015 she married fellow Millbrook teacher Mr Barnes, who teaches PLTW Technology & Engineering. They have a daughter Zoey and a son named Jack who are currently in elementary school. Mrs. Barnes enjoys spending time with her family outside, going to concerts, cheering on the chiefs and doing lots of different kinds of art like Pottery and Crochet!

Michelle Cring
Mrs. Cring is the art teacher in Millbrook High School. Born and raised in the Mid-Hudson Valley, she has a strong connection with the local community and is very enthusiastic about her new position at Millbrook. Promoting and cultivating the arts is both her passion and full time job. In fact, Mrs. Cring thinks she might just have the best job ever!
As a 2014 graduate of SUNY New Paltz, she holds a Bachelors Degree in Art Education with a concentration in ceramics. Mrs. Cring previously completed leave replacements in Red Hook Central School District and Hyde Park Central School District. As an International Baccalaureate graduate of Red Hook High School, Mrs. Cring is very excited about leading students through their IB journey. When not planning or teaching new quirky art projects, you can find Mrs. Cring throwing clay on her pottery wheel or roaming cool local towns.
Mrs. Cring teaches Studio Arts, Advanced Arts I & II, Contemporary Arts & Sculpture I & II and Independent Study in Art. She is also the High School Art Club advisor.
